Our next show is based on Judy Chicago’s famous 1970s feminist art installation Dinner Party. Where Chicago focussed mainly on famous women in the Western world, Crows Feet’s version of The Dinner Party looks at iconic women from Asia and the Pacific.
The work is a combination of dance, music, puppetry and theatre and is co-directed by Crows director, Jan Bolwell and Annie Ruth, ex-director of Toi Whakaari.
We celebrate the lives of ten women:
Dame Whina Cooper, Kate Sheppard, Evonne Goolagong, Germaine Greer, Queen Salote, Indira Gandhi, Queen Liliuokalani, Malala Yousafzai, Empress Dowager CiXi and Aung San Suu Kyi.
Hakari: The Dinner Party will be presented at Nga Purapura in Otaki on Sunday May 15th at 3pm and at Whitireia Performance Centre, Wellington on Saturday/Sunday May 28/29 2016.
